Gladiator for God

Gladiator for God

Are you willing to fight the good fight?

Everyone on earth is either a gladiator for God or a gladiator against God. There is no alternative!

The Roman gladiators could never afford to become lazy or lax in the battle; neither can any gladiator for God!

“We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope sure.  We do not want you to become lazy, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.” [Hebrew 6:11,12]

Like the Gladiators in the time of the Roman Empire, you are in a battle where a single mistake can be fatal.

“Be alert, be on watch! Your enemy, the Devil, roams around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” (1Pe 5:8)

Compared to the Roman gladiators, a gladiator for God faces much higher stakes. Satan’s evil horde is not merely looking to steal your life. They want your soul!

“The thief comes only in order to steal, kill, and destroy.” (Joh 10:10)

“For we are not fighting against human beings but against the wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world, the rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers of this dark age.” (Eph 6:12)

Your God, the King, is calling all His gladiators!

God is raising His army for the final conflict.

“The Lord will go forth like a warrior, He will arise His zeal like a man of war. He will utter a shout, yes, he will rise a war cry. He will prevail against his enemies.” [Isaiah 42:13]

How will you respond?

“Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.” (Revelation 19:11-14)

Do you hear the war cry of our God, the King?

It is the call for His gladiators to forsake their worldly idols and approach their destinies with unquenchable fires burning in their hearts.

This call is not only a call to break free from the grip of the enemy but also to rise against it as gladiators for God. Take up your spiritual armour with instant obedience and press diligently forward towards your purpose and destiny.

Will you stand up as a gladiator for God?

Gladiators for God are called to Christ-likeness. A gladiator for God must wholeheartedly love righteousness and fervently hate sin. Anytime we decide to coexist with the enemy, it will leave us ashamed and desolate.

A gladiator for God is to be part of an army that, as it follows Christ, bravely initiates spiritual warfare against the evil hordes of hell.

“From the day of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.” [Matthew 11:12]

Remember that the Commander of the Lord’s army will be with the gladiators for God to lead you where you ought to go.

While Joshua was near Jericho, he suddenly saw a man standing in front of him, holding a sword. Joshua went up to him and asked, “Are you one of our soldiers, or an enemy?” “Neither,” the man answered. “I am here as the commander of the LORD’s army.” [Jos 5:13]

This Commander of God’s army is the Lord Jesus himself!

Joshua threw himself on the ground in worship and said, “I am your servant, sir. What do you want me to do?” And the commander of the Lord’s army told him, “Take your sandals off; you are standing on holy ground.” And Joshua did as he was told. [Jos 5:14-15]

Christian, you too can be a gladiator for God.

You too should clothe yourself with spiritual armour and press forward as a gladiator to claim the territory that God has predestined for your inheritance.

“Put on all the armor that God gives you, so that you will be able to stand up against the Devil’s evil tricks. For we are not fighting against human beings but against the wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world, the rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers of this dark age. So put on God’s armor now! Then when the evil day comes, you will be able to resist the enemy’s attacks; and after fighting to the end, you will still hold your ground.” [Eph 6:11-13]

Gladiators for God don’t look back but go forward to obtain the fullness of the promises of Jesus.

“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” [Phi 3:14]

“For we fix our attention, not on things that are seen, but on things that are unseen. What can be seen lasts only for a time, but what cannot be seen lasts forever.” [2Co 4:18]

How do you measure up?

A gladiator for God:

  • is loyal to his commander
  • listens to and obeys his commander
  • leaves his family and friends
  • is courageous and not a coward
  • devotes himself to God’s cause
  • is highly disciplined
  • trains himself constantly in the use of his spiritual weapons
  • uses his weapons well during fighting

If you persevere as gladiators for God, you will be able to obtain the final victory!

‘I have done my best in the race, I have run the full distance, and I have kept the faith.” [2Ti 4:7]

“To those who win the victory I will give the right to sit beside me on my throne, just as I have been victorious and now sit by my Father on his throne.” [Rev 3:21]

Gladiator for God, you have a promise from God, and it is waiting for you.

“I have come in order that you might have life—life in all its fullness.” (Joh 10:10b)

Gladiator for God. Now is the time to reach out and grab the opportunity!

  • plan purposefully
